Disputes with neighbours can be very stressful due to the proximity you share with them. So it is always a good idea to try to avoid confrontation by always speaking with them about any issues you may have with them

If you live in a strata unit and your neighbour’s behaviour is unacceptable there are a number or remedies available.

First contact your neighbour to discuss the issue, and if this does not work attend an Owners Corporation Meeting and complain about their behaviour. Your neighbour may be in breach of the Strata By-Laws. If they are, the Owners Corporation may issue a notice requiring your neighbour to stop the behaviour.

Alternatively if the dispute cannot be resolved by the Owners Corporation you may apply to the Office of Fair Trading for medication. II the dispute cannot be settled at mediation you can apply to have the matter adjudicated at the Office of Fair Trading who will look at all the issues and evidence and make a ruling

If you are then not happy with the outcome you are able to appeal to the Consumer Trade & Tenancy Tribunal.
